Margy’s classes are Viniyoga-style classes. They emphasize linking breath with movement and include physical postures, breathing practices, relaxation practices, and meditation.
♦ Gentle/Adaptive Yoga: This slow-paced class is designed for individuals with back problems, injuries, or other limiting conditions. Physical postures are modified to address individual needs.
♦ Yoga for Seniors: This gentle class, designed for adults ages 55 and older, will help you gain strength, flexibility, balance, breath capacity, and peace of mind. Yoga postures are adapted to address health conditions common among aging adults such as arthritis, hypertension, and osteoporosis.
♦ Yoga for Cancer: This class is specifically designed for cancer patients and survivors. Classes include gentle postures, breath work, relaxation, and mindfulness practices to help reduce stress, relieve symptoms, and promote well-being.
♦ Yoga for Arthritis: Taught in a medical setting, this very gentle class is tailored for individuals with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and related musculoskeletal conditions. Classes emphasize gentle stretching and strengthening postures and breathing and relaxation techniques.
♦ Chair Yoga: This gentle class helps you gain strength, flexibility, balance, breath capacity, and peace of mind. The class is perfect for seniors, people with physical limitations, or individuals recovering from injuries or surgery. You’ll leave class with your body refreshed and your mind relaxed.
♦ Yoga for a Healthy Low Back: This gentle class helps you to reduce low back pain, improve your posture, increase strength and flexibility, and learn ways to minimize discomfort and stress. This class is based on the protocol used in a recent NIH-sponsored clinical trial demonstrating the effectiveness of Viniyoga for the treatment of low back pain.
